Forbes: The Canned Wine Spritzer Trend Just Got Another Cool Cat: An Interview Rocco Venneri

Starting a business is never easy, especially when all the odds are stacked against you. These odds didn’t stop Cool Cat’s founder Rocco Venneri, who identifies as a Black/mixed race gay man, from pursuing his dreams of creating a low-calorie portable beverage in an industry that’s largely dominated by straight white men. Launched last April, Cool Cat is an all-natural and gluten-free wine spritzer that’s already making waves with consumers as well as the beverage industry. The brand’s first two spritzers on the market—Original (Elderflower Mint Lime) and Citrus—were named “Best Ready to Drink Beverage” and awarded a Gold Medal by The Fifty Best earlier this year. In an interview, Venneri talks about his pivot from fashion to running with the “cool cats” with his popular portable wine spritzer.

What’s your background in the booze industry before you started Cool Cat?

I spent 15 years working in the fashion industry as a marketing executive developing and executing successful digital, social media, print campaigns, and activations for global lifestyle brands including Tommy Hilfiger and Armani. During this time, I worked closely with premium alcohol brands on bespoke events and activations. I also have close friends who work in the industry that were able to help guide me in the right direction while developing Cool Cat.
